privacy policy

path·ai is free and account-free. there are no usernames, passwords, or email addresses. to remember the paths you save and the modules you've completed, it stores a random anonymous id in your browser — nothing that identifies you personally. it doesn't sell or share your data, and the only third parties involved are the ones needed to host the site, run the database, generate paths, and measure anonymous usage.

path·ai is built by ogbuilds, a uk-based studio (ogbuilds ltd). this policy is governed by the laws of england & wales and written with the uk gdpr in mind.

no account data. there are no accounts, so we never collect your name, email, password, or any contact details.

an anonymous device id.the first time persistence is needed, path·ai generates a random id (a uuid) and stores it in a cookie on your browser. it isn't tied to your identity — it just lets your saved paths, saved papers, and module progress follow the same browser between visits.

the topics you generate. when you ask path·ai to build a path, the topic text you type is sent to an ai model to produce the path. generated paths are cached (keyed to the topic, not to you) so the same topic can be served instantly to everyone afterwards and surfaced for search.

your saves and progress. the paths and papers you save, and the modules you mark complete, are stored against your anonymous device id so the app can show them back to you.

anonymous usage.we record basic product analytics (pages viewed, paths generated, checkpoint outcomes) keyed to the anonymous device id, to understand what's useful and what to fix.

we use this data only to provide the product: to generate and cache paths, remember your saves and progress, and improve path·ai from aggregate, anonymous usage. we never sell your data and we don't run advertising.

where any of this counts as personal data, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating and improving a free product, in a way that is low-impact and account-free. the analytics are anonymous and device-scoped, and you can opt out of cookies via your browser at any time.

path·ai is a small product built on a few trusted services. the ones that touch this data are:

• vercel — hosts the site and runs the serverless functions.
• neon — the postgres database that stores cached paths, your saves, and your progress (keyed to the anonymous device id).
• vercel ai gateway & google gemini — generate the learning path from the topic you type. the model only ever sees the topic text, not who you are.
• exa — a web-search api used to find real, current resources to ground each generated path.
• posthog — anonymous product analytics. there are no advertising trackers.

path·ai uses a small number of first-party cookies: the anonymous device-id cookies that link your saves and progress to your browser, and the cookie posthog uses for anonymous return-visit analytics. there are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. clearing your browser's cookies removes the device id and detaches you from your saved data.

generated paths are cached indefinitely so they can be served and indexed. your saves, papers, and progress are kept while you keep using path·ai from the same browser. because there are no accounts, we can't look you up by name — but if you reach out with your device id (or simply clear your cookies), the associated rows can be removed.

under uk gdpr you have rights to access, correct, delete, and export any personal data we hold, and to object to processing. since path·ai is anonymous, the simplest way to exercise most of these is to clear your browser cookies, which detaches you from your stored data. if you'd like us to delete data tied to a specific device id, get in touch via the studio link below.

some of the services above (such as posthog and the ai providers) are based in the united states, so limited data may be processed outside the uk/eea. where that happens, it's covered by the providers' standard data-protection safeguards.

path·ai isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

traffic to path·ai is encrypted in transit (https), and the database is operated by neon with industry-standard protections. because we hold no logins or personal contact details, there are no credentials to leak.
